Early computing devices such as desk calculators and DSPs had fixed-programs that needed hardware reconfiguration if any modification is required in the program! In the 1950s, Von Neumann came up with an idea of stored-program computers that paved the way for all the miracles in the computing world.

In 1956, IBM’s first commercial computer IBM 305 RAMAC with 5MB disc storage weighed over a ton. It was leased for $3200 per month those days!. In 2019, 2TB of SSD costs less than $300 and it only weighs less than 100 grams or 4 ounces. It has been an exploding evolution in terms of storage capacity, low cost, reliability, performance and availability. This is a revolution in evolution!
